Opening Prayer

God our loving father we thank you for sending your beloved Son to the world so that we may have eternal life. As a community gathered in the name of Jesus our saviour, we beseech you to accept the prayers that we place before you through St.Vincent De Paul, the heavenly patron of all charitable works. Grant us the grace to live according to the spirit of the saint who practised your commandment, “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn. 15: 12). Make us grow in the virtues of simplicity, humility, meekness, mortification and zeal for the salvation of the souls as practised by St. Vincent. Help us to lead a life of love and compassion to the poor and an ardent desire for holiness. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Lord of all forever. Amen

Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom then shall I fear?

The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom
then shall I be afraid?

Though an army should encamp against me,
yet my heart shall not be afraid

And though war should rise up against me, yet
will I put my trust in him

One thing have I asked of the Lord; one thing I seek

That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all
the days of my life

For in the day of trouble he shall keep me safe
in his shelter. He shall hide me in the secrecy
of his dwelling and set me high upon a rock

Hearken to my voice, O Lord, when I call; have
mercy on me and answer me
You speak in my heart and say, “Seek my face.”
Your face, Lord, will I seek

Hide not your face from me, nor turn away
from your servant in displeasure

You have been my helper; cast me not away
Do not forsake me, O God of my salvation

Though my father and my mother forsake
me, the Lord will sustain me

This I believe: I shall see the goodness of God,
in the land of the living

Put your hope in God, be strong, let your
heart be bold, put your hope in God

Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever
shall be world without end. Amen.

Daily Prayers

Day 1: Faith

Jesus, you have told “Believe and you will see the glory of God” (Jn. 11: 40); teach us to trust in your love and providence when faced with adverse situations and difficulties in our lives. Help us to understand your words, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness” (2Cor. 12:9). Strengthen our faith and enable us to lead our lives with the conviction that “faith without works is dead” (Js.2:26). Help us grow deeper in the faith proclaimed by your disciples, martyrs,
and saints. The Lord of all forever. Amen.

Day 2: Love of God

O Lord, Jesus, Son of God, you revealed to us that God is our loving Father; help us to grow stronger in the experience of God’s love, every day of our life. Teach us to put our trustin your loving providence that takes care of the birds of the air and the grass of the field. Inspire us, when faced with difficulties and hardships of life, not to be desperate but to depend totally upon your love. Imprint on our hearts the truth that God is love. Lord of all forever. Amen.

Day 3: Love for Neighbour

Lord, you have said, “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn. 15:12); help us to
lead a life of charity following your words and example. Teach us to practise your precept, “Love your neighbour as yourself ” (Mt. 19:19). May our love for you inspire us to love and serve others. Enable us to share your salvific love with all those who come into contact with us each day. Lord of all forever. Amen.

Day 4: Simplicity

Lord, it was your will to hide the secrets of the kingdom of God from the wise and reveal it to the lowly; we thank you for enriching St.Vincent with the virtue of simplicity. Give us the grace to flee from hypocrisy and seek only the glory of God in all our activities. Bless us with purity of thoughts, sincerity of words and honesty of actions. Help us to remember always your words, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God” (Mt. 5:8). Lord of all forever. Amen

Day 5: Humility

Lord, you became the model of humility by washing the feet of your disciples; help us to conquer the pride in our hearts. Help us to trust in your loving providence and live with sincerity of heart. Deepen in us the conviction that, “By the grace of God I am what I am” (1Cor. 15:10). Give us the grace to be the willing instruments in your hands. Lord of all forever. Amen

Day 6: Meekness

Lord Jesus, by loving even the enemies, you gave us a new example of love; teach us to accept and esteem one another. By your love make our hearts sweet and compassionate. When we are misunderstood and wounded help us to remain meek and for bearing and to forgive and respect the feelings of others. Strengthen us to sacrifice our self interest and to see the good in others. Lord of all forever. Amen

Day 7: Mortification

Lord, you have said, “Who ever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me” (Mk. 8:34); give us the spirit of mortification so that we may constantly forsake the pleasures of the world and the desires of the body in a spirit of fasting, penance and prayer, to lead a holy life. Enable us to live with the conviction that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. Fill us with the virtue of mortification, the fruit of the Holy Spirit, so that we may conquer the evil inclinations of our bodies. Lord of all forever. Amen

Day 8: Zeal for the Souls

Lord, you have shed even the last drop of your blood for the redemption of humankind; give us the strength to work tirelessly for the salvation of the souls redeemed by your precious blood. Give us the grace, following your example, to work zealously and even to sacrifice our lives for the salvation of souls. May the burning zeal for the salvation of souls increase in us, every day of our lives. Lord of all forever. Amen

Day 9: Prayer

Jesus you have said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (Mt.7:7); give us the grace to seek refuge in you every moment of our life. Lord, give us the grace to remain united to the Heavenly Father, to you, our Saviour and to the Holy Spirit, the comforter. Give us the strength to live according to the words of the psalmist, “Better to take refuge in the Lord than to put one’s trust in mortals” (Ps. 118:8). Lord of all forever. Amen
