HISTORY AND PRESENT ACTIVITIES
Divine mercy ashram is in the Diocese of Hazaribag. Vincentians stepped into the diocese on 5th Oct 2006. St. Thomas Province of the Vincentian congregation took this new venture of starting a Retreat Centre here during the time of Rev. Fr. Mathew Pothalil as the Provincial. The pioneers were Frs. Jacob Chennath and Sales Marattil. Fr. Chennath stayed six months in the cathedral church and Fr. Sales was staying in the Dhorimatha church for six months. The new Vincentian house in Dipugarh, Hazaribag was blessed by Rt. Rev. Bp. Chalrs Soreng on 26th March 2007.
We are having three residential retreats in a month regularly. Around 200-300 people come for residential retreats and on vacation times it goes upto 800. In every month we are also conducting a Night Vigil for which people come from far and wide. Besides these residential retreats, we also take up parish retreats as per the request of the parish priests. Around sixty young men and women stay here in the Ashram for training themselves for future evangelization. They also get training in the Word of the Lord, intercessory prayers, giving speeches and music. Few of them are specially trained for music ministry.
Divine Mercy also provides Hindi Holy Bible to the public in a subsidised price. We also have published few translated spiritual literature. We also regularly publish a booklet named ‘Divine Darshan’, which speaks about witnesses of the faithful. We also try to publish a magazine named ‘Yesu Ke Nam Par’. Recently two devotional CDs were published.
Residential block for women has been built and blessed in 2015. Residential block for men is under construction. New adoration chapel was blessed by His Grace Anand Jojo, bishop of Hazaribag, in July, 2016.
