HISTORY AND PRESENT ACTIVITIES
Idukki is Kerala’s very own Eden where nature spreads her carpet of Green to welcome visitors from across the world. Here in the calmness of the High-ranges the town of Kattappana invites you to the Vincentian House by name `Krupalaya’ – the house of grace – where you can feel the loving touch of the living God! Krupalaya is situated in the suburb of the town one km. away from the down – town, by the side of the Theni – Moovattupazha highway and it stands half way between Kattappana and Kochuthovala.
Krupalaya belongs to the juridical boundary of the Diocese of Kanjirappally and in the Forane Parish of Kattappana. His Excellency Mar Mathew Vattakuzhy blessed it on April 30, 1997, the then Bishop of Kanjirappally in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Antony Plackal, the then Superior General and Very Rev. Fr. Mathew Thoyalil the then Provincial Superior. The Congregation purchased 5.40 acres of land in the year 1995. Rev. Fr. Joseph Ayyamkolil was appointed Superior of the newly founded institution and by his hard work and supervision the dream-project Krupalaya became a reality. During the time of construction Rev. Fr. Joseph stayed with the Brothers of St. John of God rendering his service as the chaplain of their Mission Hospital at Kattappana. St. Vincent de Paul is the heavenly Patron of the House.
