HISTORY AND PRESENT ACTIVITIES
Rahuri Factory is a small village about 8 kilometers away from Rahuri where the workers of sugar mill and paper factory lived. In 1991 we started a Mass Centre here and Rev. Fr. Joseph Kavalakkatt and Rev. Fr. Thomas Mullenmadackel were offering Holy Mass in the house of Mr. Antony Joseph in the sugar factory quarters. Later our fathers moved to a rented house in ‘Tanpure Colony’ and started to live there. This was the third residence in Ahmednagar mission. On 1st September 1999 Rev. Fr. James Kallumkal the then Provincial Councilor for education laid the foundation stone for the new chapel. It is Fr. Antony Kakkanatt who constructed and finished the works of the House and Church. On 25th February 2001 the newly constructed church was blessed by Mar. Mathew Vaniakizhakkel, the Bishop of Satna. In August 02, 2000 we shifted our ashram from the rented house to the new building. In 2012 we started One Day Prayer Service on every second Saturday in the Church. Every Year we are conducting Bible Convention in our De Paul School.
In 1994 we started an English Medium School here. Fr. Davis Arackal initiated the running of the school in a rented building with the support of the Catholic Community. When the number of students increased we took one more building for rent. Meanwhile we bought 3 acres of land for the construction of the school. On 26th May 1995 the sisters of the Franciscan Handmaids of Good Shepherd (FHGS) came here to help in the mission.
