HISTORY AND PRESENT ACTIVITIES
Vincentian congregation took up the mission at Weruweru which is situated in the beautiful valleys of Mount Kilimanjaro. The mission was officially entrusted to the Vincentian Congregation on 30th May 2015 by Most Rev. Issac Amani the bishop of Moshi diocese in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Paul Puthua, Provincial superior of Marymatha province. The pioneering missionaries of this mission Frs. Joseph Elanjickal and Steby Kalloorkattu started serving here from 28th April 2015 even before the official inauguration. It is situated 9 km of distance from Moshi town. It is a quasi parish consists of two outstations namely Weruweru and Chekereni. Weruweru mission flourishes as it experiences the Vincentian presence. Around 890 Catholic families are being assisted for their spiritual and material benefits. The developments achieved account the spiritual growth of the faithful and their cooperation with Priests. The local ordinary expressed his intention of having Vincentians here. That is the spiritual revival of the diocese. The climate here is neither too hot nor cold. We are expecting power supply in near future. In spite of challenges of a beginning mission it tries to meet the goal of ministering the poor with its daily activities of Eucharistic celebration, visiting the sick, Family visits etc.
