HISTORY AND PRESENT ACTIVITIES
It was a great desire of the Regional superior of S.H. Region, Rev. Fr. Biju Vallipparambil and Rev. Fr. Jomesh Kaithamana, to have a retreat centre close to Kampala town. They looked for a plot in Nsangi under the Nabbingo parish which belonged to the family of Margeret Kyeyune who gave us the plot in Entebbe. At the time of Rev. Fr. Joy Vellaramkalayil and Rev. Fr. Jomesh, we got 5 acres of land, two acres being received as gift. On August 15, 2013, the feast day of Assumption, we began prayer services in the proposed land for Vincentian Retreat Centre Nsangi – Kampala, in the presence of the Vicar General of Kampala Archdiocese Msgr. Charles Kasibante along with the Regional Superior Rev. Fr. Biju Vallipparambil and Regional Vicar Rev. Fr. Geejo Pattath.
Since then we have started regular first Friday prayer service over there led by priests and team members of Vincentian Prayer Centre Entebbe. We have got very good response from the people for the prayer services and more than one thousand people attend our prayer services. Many people have already started coming daily for prayers and counseling. We had no permanent structure there and we are conducting our prayer services in hired tents. We are grateful to the Almighty God for He has enabled us to have a big retreat hall. Rev. Fr. Joby Kalathil worked really hard to construct the hall. Rev. Fr. Saji Vadakkemury and Rev. Fr. Raphael Karlathukaran supported Fr. Joby in his work. We have great hope for the further development of this retreat centre. It is a good Place for the residential retreat centre. We have officially opened and blessed the retreat hall by the Provincial Superior Very. Rev. Fr. Paul Puthuva and His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the Archbishop of Kampala on 25th October 2014.
