01. Vincentian Prayer House

The inauguration of the Vincentian Prayer House at Buoye, Kisumu in the Western Region of Kenya, the second biggest city in Kenya near to the Lake Victoria was held on May 28, 2015. The Centre was inaugurated by Very Rev. Fr. Paul Puthuva, Provincial Superior, in the presence of Most Rev. Zacceus Okoth, the Archbishop of Kisumu. Rev. Fr. Alex Chalangady, Provincial for Councilor, Rev. Fr. Biju Valliparambil, Regional Superior (SH Region) and Rev. Fr. Geejo Pattath were present along with the Vincentian priests from Uganda for the ceremony which ended with Holy Mass by the Archbishop.

As a fulfillment of God’s plan, Vincentian prayer house at Kisumu started functioning in the form of one day prayer service on second Saturdays of the month. Vincentian Priests from Nairobi use to conduct it in the beginning. Fr. Joseph Marotiparambil was appointed as the first Director of Vincentian Prayer House. Community life began in the month of August 2015, together with Dn. Abhilash and Regent Br. George Padickaparambil. An existing nursery school in the land was renovated and is being used as the residence for priests. Initially tents were hired for the second Saturday service. A temporary tent that can accommodate 2000 people was constructed in the course of time. A small intercessory chapel was made. An ablution block and rain harvesting system, which are under construction. Gradually we started one day service on all Saturdays and counselling on all Thursdays. Daily adoration and Holy Mass started from the time of our presence in the Centre. The first retreat that held in March, 2016 was attended by 1200 people. We conduct retreats in every alternative month. At present we have approximately 60 team members who serve in the ministry. The Centre and our community was blessed with the presence of Rev.Fr. Benoy Parecattil as the Assistant Director and Finance officer of the Centre.
