The Provincial Synaxis held at Angamaly in 2001, approved the suggestion that we should establish our ministry in those areas which, though outside Kerala, form part of the Syro-Malabar diocese in Kerala. Besides, there was a concrete suggestion to establish our center in Mangalore. Accordingly, the Provincial team began to look for suitable plots in those areas. Rev. Bro. Thomas Kunnel was given the task of finding out a suitable plot of land in Mangalore. As a result of his sincere efforts, we could purchase a plot of land at a very convenient place, very near to the suburban bus stand Thokkottu, near Mangalore. Here, the Vincentian House was built under his supervision. It was blessed by Mar Lawrence Mukkuzhy, the Bishop of Belthangady Diocese, on 4th June 2005. The Bishop wished that we could care pastorally for the Syro-Malabar students migrating to the city of Magalore for higher and professional studies, because many of them were facing problems. Hundreds of students used to come to our chapel on Sundays for the Holy Qurbana. Rev. Fr. Paul Ambalamkkandam was appointed the first Superior. The house maintained cordial relation to the Latin rite clergy and faithful of the locality.

The house has got a gradual growth into a prayer centre during last few years. Thokkottu Divine Prayer Centre Bible Convention is widely known and it has witnessed huge gatherings in the last few years. The Bishops of Belthangady and Mangalore dioceses occasionally visit the house. At present we conduct in our center, prayer services for the faithful on every Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Besides, monthly one day conventions are also conducted here. Prayer services are conducted both in Kannada and Malayalam languages. On 19th April 2015 Mar Lawrence Mukkuzhy, the Bishop of Belthangady Diocese, blessed the newly built auditorium. Our center also serves as a study house for our priests doing higher studies in Mangalore.
